In true “mountain to Moses” fashion, the Alaskan Cowboy Doug Briney is taking his music to a whole new audience, with a series of live performances outside the Cowboy Coffee Shack in Anchorage. Doug, who is the owner and operator of the small, drive-thru coffee stand, is performing every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, weather permitting. The Cowboy Coffee Shack is located at 4724 Old Seward Highway, in Anchorage, AK. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6am-6pm and Saturdays 8am-4pm.
Doug, who is currently enjoying international airplay for his single, “More Than Just a Farm,” says, “It’s the most unusual place I’ve ever performed. I’m out there singing to traffic as it passes by. So far, I’ve not caused any accidents, but I do get a lot of people slowing down and pointing.”
It’s this kind of attention that is serving several promotional purposes for Doug. Not only is it helping to bring in new customers for the Coffee Shack, but it’s also introducing these new customers to Doug’s music. “I think it’s brilliant marketing,” says Michael Stover of MTS Management Group. “Sales for Doug’s CD, It’s All Country have been doing amazing since these performances have begun. I mean, how can you resist a singing cowboy serving up coffee? It’s also giving Doug the chance to get out there and share his music with the people. That’s the most important thing.”
In addition to owning the Cowboy Coffee Shack, Doug is also a pastor at the Cowboy Church, located in Anchorage, AK, where he lives with his wife and children. Doug also performs every Friday at Lone Star Steakhouse, also located in Anchorage. Doug’s CD, It’s All Country was released in March 2012, and his single, “More Than Just a Farm” is currently in the top 15 of two independent country music charts.
