The veteran comedian will perform to celebrate the post-COVID re-opening of the all-volunteer venue owned by world-renowned Pittsburgh musician John Vento.
Since the mandatory March 2020 COVID shutdown of Pittsburgh businesses took effect, local music and performance venues have been among some of the hardest hit. Although creative minds have found ways to reach audiences via livestreaming technology, the attempts at creating an atmosphere akin to that of a live venue have fallen flat. There is nothing like gathering in an intimate setting to watch, listen and be entertained by live performers. Thanks to Governor Tom Wolf’s “Green Light” for businesses to re-open on Friday, June 5th, both live venues and would-be event-goers are rejoicing.
This Saturday, June 6th, local Pittsburgh venue, Steamworks Creative is celebrating its re-opening with a night of comedy, featuring veteran Pittsburgh comedian and radio host, Jim Krenn. Krenn will perform at the all-volunteer-run location with special guest, TJ Klisavage, the Autistic Comic. The show starts at 8pm. Tickets are available at https://steamworks-creative.ticketleap.com/jim-krenn-tj/.
John Vento, owner of Steamworks Creative and an award-winning chart-topping musician in his own right, is grateful to be re-opening: “Basically we’ve been closed since mid March, and things have been really tough. Being an all volunteer community listening
room, we did not qualify for any govt. funding, so we are grateful to reopen…And very grateful that the incredible Jim Krenn is going to be there.”
Steamworks Creative is located at 4967 William Flynn Hwy, Gibsonia. It is accessible to differently-abled people. The parking lot holds multiple handicapped spots, and a staff member will always go out of their way to aid anyone entering the building. Regardless of physical or intellectual disabilities, it’s proven to be an inclusive venue. For more information on upcoming events or bookings, visit steamworkscreative.com.
ABOUT JOHN VENTO: John Vento is often called a chameleon in the Pittsburgh music scene; and, while his critics may use the term as a pejorative, Vento views it as a compliment. He understands that they’re motivated by the frustration of their inability to lock him into a specific musical style. After all, the front man for the high-energy, hard-rockin’ band, the Nied’s Hotel Band, is also known for his introspective, brooding solo recordings. Rather than a drawback, however, Vento considers such diversity to be among his strengths; and his fans agree. They relish sharing his tumultuous trek toward achieving his artistic vision, which he accomplishes by channeling a blend of eclectic influences through his own, raw emotions. Vento is a Billboard Magazine Emerging Artist and a Top 25 iTunes rock chart artist. He is also a 2019 International Music and Entertainment Association Award Winner. John has appeared on ABC, FOX and other outlets. He is also the co-founder of Band Together Pittsburgh, a non-profit working with those on the Autism spectrum.
