A Powerful Anthem Inspired by Tragedy and Resilience

Los Angeles, CA — Emerging independent singer-songwriter VANNGO is making waves with the launch of his solo music career in 2025. The SoCal native, also an entrepreneur in the wellness industry, has just released his debut single, “We’ll Rise LA!” with a full album on the way. Drawing inspiration from personal tragedy, the song captures the resilience of a community in the face of disaster.
The inspiration for VANNGO’s first single comes from the devastating wildfires that swept through Los Angeles County in January, causing immense damage to businesses, including his own. The destruction and the city’s unyielding spirit became the catalyst for “We’ll Rise LA!” a song that blends folk, blues, and rock into a powerful, soul-stirring anthem.
A Sound Born from Fire and Strength
The track begins with a brooding, grunge-tinged guitar and bass, setting a pensive yet magnetic atmosphere. VANNGO’s soulful and raspy voice narrates the calm of an LA morning, suddenly shattered by an unstoppable blaze. As the track builds, the sound rises into a soaring anthem of resilience, turning loss into strength and devastation into a unifying call for hope.

“This song is deeply personal,” said VANNGO. “I saw my business and so many of my friends endure great loss from the fires, but I also saw incredible strength in the people around me. ‘We’ll Rise LA!’ is my tribute to that resilience.”

VANNGO took time to answer some questions for this EXCLUSIVE interview…
Your debut single, “We’ll Rise LA!” was inspired by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Can you take us through the moment you realized you wanted to turn that experience into a song?
The fires raged for so long, destroying everything in their path. My business in Pacific Palisades was devastated, and just about everyone I knew, including my best friends, lost everything. The entire city was impacted. It was unreal. Amid the chaos, I saw first responders in action and neighbors helping each other. Like everyone, I was in shock, trying to process it all. Then something came over me, I needed to express myself and wanted to lift Los Angeles up.
You describe the song as a tribute to resilience. How did the people around you and their response to the tragedy influence your songwriting process?
People’s strength in the face of disaster was everything. My family, my business partners, our staff, our clients, everyone around me. I saw total devastation, but I also saw first responders, the National Guard, and everyday people stepping up in ways I’ll never forget. Business owners are fighting to rebuild, and communities are coming together. Los Angeles refuses to stay down. That energy fuels We’ll Rise LA! It starts in a dark place but grows into something powerful, something defiant. It’s not just my story; it’s the city’s story.
Your sound blends folk, blues, rock, and grunge. How did you develop this eclectic style, and who are some of your biggest musical influences?
I grew up listening to literally everything. Blues, jazz, classic rock, and ‘90s grunge. There’s something about the rawness of blues and the storytelling of folk that just feels natural to me, but I love the edge and emotion that rock and grunge bring. Artists like BB King, Clapton, Neil Young, The Stones, The Doors, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden have shaped me. I want my music to feel real, imperfect, raw, passionate, but deeply emotional.
As an entrepreneur who helps people, how does your background shape your approach to music and storytelling?
Entrepreneurship is all about vision, resilience, connection and how to create something meaningful and ideally impactful. Music is the same. It’s a way to connect, inspire, process emotions, and bring people together. Running a business has taught me discipline, patience, and how to navigate challenges, all which spill into my songwriting. It’s made my approach more intentional. Every song has a purpose, just like every decision in business.
Your upcoming album is set to feature an “eclectic mix of heartfelt storytelling and raw, emotive performances.” Can you give us a glimpse into the themes and emotions we can expect?
This album is a journey of struggle, loss, hope, exploration, passion and new beginnings. Some songs are deeply personal, touching on heartache and rebuilding, while others tap into universal emotions, I think everyone can relate to.
Creatively, I explored different sides of who I am, musically, emotionally, even spiritually. Some songs are stripped-down and intimate, others are gritty and full of energy, but they all come from a raw, real place. It’s an extension of me, and that makes me happy.
Releasing a debut single is a huge milestone. What has been the most surprising or rewarding part of launching your solo music career so far?
The most surprising thing has been the connection. I wrote “We’ll Rise LA!” from my own experience, but hearing people say, “This song makes me cry but gives me hope” is incredible. The most rewarding part is definitely putting my music out into the world.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for 2025 as an artist? Are there any collaborations, live performances, or projects you’re especially excited about?
2025 is all about creating and sharing. The full album is coming, and I already have nine more songs recorded. Next up is “Heartbreaker USA,” which I’m excited to release soon. I want to keep putting out music, recording new songs, and refining my sound. I’m exploring new ideas and sharing work that feels real and meaningful. More than anything, I just want to keep evolving and be fully self-expressed.
