Pittsburgh’s beloved acoustic group, Vento, Ziggy, Hawk & McCarthy, are thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, “Spaghetti Western,” on September 3rd, 2024. The track, a spirited and cinematic homage to classic Westerns, showcases the band’s signature blend of rich harmonies and acoustic instrumentation.
The inspiration for “Spaghetti Western” came from a casual movie conversation between John Vento and his friend Jim Pitulski. John, ever the creative force, turned to the talented songwriter Shane McLaughlin to bring this idea to life. McLaughlin, along with Bob Zigerelli, penned the perfect demo, which was then brought to fruition at Maplewood Studio under the production expertise of David Granati.
The single features:
– John Vento – Lead Vocals
– Bob Zigerelli – Lead Vocals & Guitar
– Cherylann Hawk – Percussion & Background Vocals
– Kevin McCarthy – Mandolin & Background Vocals
“Spaghetti Western” embodies the spirit of collaboration that defines Vento, Ziggy, Hawk & McCarthy. Their harmonies float effortlessly over acoustic guitars and percussion, creating a sound that is both fresh and familiar. The group’s repertoire includes original compositions from John Vento’s acclaimed albums “Love, Lust & Other Wreckage” and “Brick by Brick,” as well as Cherylann Hawk’s original works and acoustic renditions of timeless classics.
John Vento, a well-known figure in the Pittsburgh music scene as the frontman of The Nied’s Hotel Band, brought the group together. His deep connection to acoustic music began during the recording of his 2018 album “Love, Lust & Other Wreckage,” with Cherylann Hawk as a key collaborator. The group’s latest project, “Spaghetti Western,” is another testament to their chemistry and creativity.
