The 60s-inspired pop/rock single is the 2nd release from his forthcoming August 2nd album release, “Everest.”
TORONTO, ON CANADA – July 19, 2024 – Canadian pop-rock singer-songwriter sensation Michael Zuzek is set to release his latest single, “The Man Who’s Never Found,” on July 19th. This is the second single from his eagerly anticipated album “Everest,” which is scheduled for release on August 2nd. The track is the follow-up to his UK iTunes charting hit, “Graystone.”
“The Man Who’s Never Found” showcases Zuzek’s exceptional songwriting prowess and deep appreciation for the rich, textured sound of 60s rock. The single was born from a moment of inspiration at the piano featured on the album cover. Zuzek’s initial chord progression for the chorus evolved into a dark and descending melody, which he countered with ascending strings, inspired by John Lennon’s “How Do You Sleep.”
The journey of writing this single took unexpected turns, with Zuzek discovering a bouncing piano part reminiscent of 60s upbeat progressions while working on another song. This melody seamlessly fit with the previously composed chorus, sparking a creative burst that led to the completion of the pre-chorus, post-chorus riff, and a bridge inspired by Led Zeppelin.
Lyrically, “The Man Who’s Never Found” narrates a ballad of failed love, urging listeners to stay true to themselves and not let greed cloud their lives. The second verse, with its rambling and rolling lyrics, pays homage to Bob Dylan’s genius in both lyricism and rhythm.
Despite its long gestation period, with initial recording starting in September 2022 and full production not completed until August 2023, Zuzek considers “The Man Who’s Never Found” a pinnacle of 60s rock-inspired songwriting and production. The track features rich backing vocals, a committed bass/piano duet, and string melodies that complement the limited but impactful distorted guitar.
Michael Zuzek’s talent extends beyond his exceptional piano skills; his music resonates deeply with listeners, capturing the essence of iconic influences like Burton Cummings of The Guess Who, The Beatles, The Zombies, and Garth Hudson of The Band. Zuzek’s music reimagines the sound of the 60s and 70s, creating a powerful and nostalgic experience for modern audiences.
Born in the heart of Toronto, Zuzek’s lifelong passion for music began at the age of 5 with piano lessons. His talent has since flourished, leading him to write and produce the soundtrack for the film “Ulysses.” With “Everest” on the horizon, Zuzek is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene.
