Stuart Styron Talks About His Latest Release “Archive of a Last Generation – (Aramean Score)”

We’ve got new Information about the latest music releases of Stuart Styron. He’s got a very interesting Soundtrack Album, which was previously released in an instrumental version. Now, Stuart is back with his most personal release to date, and he’s here to tell us all about it:

MTS: Hi Stuart! Great to have you back! Tell us about your new release, “Archive of a Last Generation – (Aramean Score).”

Stuart Styron: “Archive of a Last Generation – (Aramean Score)” is my most personal album. “Archive of a Last Generation – (Origin Instrumental),” the instrumental version of this album, was released in 2016. It was also reported on your site at https://www.mtsmanagementgroup.com/2016/08/stuart-styron-announces-august-20th-release-of-new-album-archive-of-a-last-generation/ . Now the complete album with vocals has been released worldwide, just a couple of weeks ago, on November 30th, just in time for Christmas 2022. The album was produced in 2009-2010. It’s from my archive, now reworked for sound.

MTS: Tell us about the highly unusual cover art.

SS: “The cover is without any words, no album or artist information. It looks timeless and pure in every perspective. The cover shows me in perfect pure aramaic light and power…Straight from my roots.

MTS: Tell us about your Aramaic background, and how it influenced the sound of this album.

SS: “Archive of a Last Generation” is dedicated to my ancestry and roots. We Arameans are still without our own state. ‘We are everyone and everywhere.’ In 2008, I attended many Aramaic weddings and noticed that the music played there was good, but it lacked a certain power. Especially the drums…they didn’t ‘bang.’ That bothered me a lot. I started looking for something musically in myself, that I felt would bring out the power of my ancestry. I fused a mix of a Roland Groovebox and a Roland Keyboard to create the perfect sound. The right drums were born.

MTS: You took great care in the production of the record. Tell us a little more about how you wanted the listener to perceive the “sound.”

SS: The result is 12 strong songs that are perfectly coordinated with each other. Light clean guitar sounds are in the background, but they are still dominant and powerful. The drums are a pure treat for the ears, and they energize the body. The clarity of the mix is unmistakable, especially with headphones. Both halves of the brain are addressed separately, and then they are re-connected to the guitar and especially to the overlapping vocals, recorded in different octaves.

MTS: tell us about the vocals on this version.

SS: Vocally, it was done in different octaves, in church choir style. I’ve been to several churches to get the right mood. After having this singing experience, I then implemented it. The music goes in the direction of avant-garde style, however, it is absolutely soundtrack music. The cold, ancient, wide breath of the vocals and the extended guitars with the dominant, powerful drums convinced me. This is my perception of Aramaic music. I can identify with this.

MTS: Tell us about the lyrics on the album.

SS: The lyrics will be available soon on MusicMatch, completely verified. The lyrics are also well thought out, representing my line of Aramaic ancestors. Aramaic is the oldest language in the world. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, spoke Aramaic.

MTS: What are some of you favorite tracks on the album?

SS: Songs like “Cave of Heart”, “Atmosfear”, “Brilliant God”, “Foreign Again” or “Veto Generation” are particularly successful and representative of what I was trying to achieve. I am very proud of this work. The album must be understood as a whole album. All the songs are important, and they can only make the album shine as a collection.

MTS: What is your ultimate goal for this album?

SS: One day this album will be performed in a large church with several choir singers and an orchestra. That’s a promise.
