The Project Explores Various Aspects of Popularity in Relation with Anxiety. It releases March 18th, 2022.
NLS Huncho, an emerging singer and vocalist is all set to translate his feelings into a project that juxtaposes popularity and anxiety to portray a comprehensive picture for the onlookers and spectators. People enthusiastically follow an impulse for a short period without realizing the trauma that the performers had been passing through. For one it’s a smooth course, for others it’s a bumpy track.
Since childhood, NLS Huncho has been struggling with anxiety and mental issues that affected his academic progress adversely. Born and raised in San Francisco, Huncho currently resides in Louisiana where he graduated High School in 2018 and signed up to San Francisco State University (SFSU). With 0.75 GPA SFSU discontinued Huncho’s academic progress abruptly. Later on, he met the same fate at City College in San Francisco. With recurrent setbacks and mother’s advice landed him at Dillard University, New Orleans.
His project revolves around his ordeals and the way forward. While in Nola, Huncho sensed anthropophobiac traits in his personality that led him to believe that he had severe anxiety. To counter the malady, ADHD medication was employed which had its inherent side effects. Thus, Huncho had to steer clear the table of ADHD medicines and go after other options which catalyzed his project to probe for other ways to battle anxiety in the limelight.
Being an artist with mental issues and anxiety is not convenient to cope with. Abundant amount of struggle and intensive care are indispensable to hide the gloomy ailment behind the artificially throbbing mask. The audience bears with only the fittest and the artists had to endeavor the survival of the fittest. Huncho’s song “Outside” portrays his personal insecurities and diffidence; the anomalies that are never congruent with the artist’s performance.
The project underscores the life of a man standing under a spotlight and passing through the agony of awful days. Public eye just watches the man and doesn’t perceive the soul surrounded by anguish. This project is, “the gloom transformed into gleam”.
