Exclusive Interview With Doug Cash

Hey Doug! Thanks for joining us. Tell us what you’ve been up to during the COVID Pandemic. How did it affect your life?

Hello. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak to your audience. The pandemic has affected everyone to some degree. Many people have been forced to work from home. Luckily, my office is wherever my computer is. With the help of Fiverr I’m able to market and promote my music around the world.

You’ve got a new single out, “Wouldn’t It Be Much Easier 3.” Tell us all about it.

I dreamt the melody. The chords and the lyrics came later. My friend Sandra Dolores came into the studio to lend her support and her fabulous vocals. My engineer, Matt Erich, found a solid mix. But I wasn’t satisfied until I produced the third version. That’s why it’s called: “Would’nt it be much easier 3.”

If you weren’t making music, what would you most likely be doing?

I can’t imagine what I would be doing or who I would be. This path was chosen for me at an early age. I’ve spent the majority of my life either on stage or in the studio. Now it’s all business. Publishing, licensing, promotion, budgets.

You are from Sacramento, CA. How has that influenced your music? Have you lived anywhere else?

I was born in Long Island, New York but I grew up in Sacramento,Ca. It’s where I met my best and songwriting partner Jeff Cooper. It’s also where I met my first wife. I’ve also lived in Riverside,Ca where I recorded my first professional demos at Studio One with my engineer Mike Overlin. I also spent a year in West Covina, Ca playing gigs.

What has been the highlight of your musical career so far?

In the early days it was writing my first songs with my best friend. While still in high school I joined my first professional band. After we moved to Southern California we played a gig at The Barn at UCR in Riverside,Ca. The audience was insane. I jumped off the stage and danced with the crowd while playing bass. Years later, I joined a band called Mind Club and we caused a mini riot. Security had to escort us off stage. But being in the studio, building my publishing catalog has been my greatest achievement.

What do you hope that your listeners will take away from hearing your music?

In my delusion, I feel I’m old school’s last gasp. A graduate of Sly Stone, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon University. Based on my Spotify stats, my music appeals to the age groups from 18 to 54. I take pride in being a singer songwriter musician who fell in love with harmony, melody and verse at a very young age.
Special thanks to Michael Stover for promoting independent artists from around the world.

Thanks Doug!
