Born and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, Russell began singing at the age
of ten in a Pentecostal church. After completing his tour of duty in the Navy, Russell returned to his native Louisiana, where he began playing local bars and honky-tonks. Since that time, Russell has grown to become one of the most prominent acts in this area, sharing the stage with Tracey Lawrence, Matt King, Chris LaDoux, Joe Diffie, Mark Wills, T. Graham Brown, Confederate Railroad, and many others. In 2006 Russell signed a recording contract with Aspirion Records Group in Nashville and recorded a new CD titled “Russell Walker” with hit songwriter Tom Paden producing this CD.
