Finding Happiness: From Multi-platinum Italian Dance Pop Hitmaker To LA Film Composer Extraordinaire, Dom Capuano

Fans of 90s dance music might best know Dom Capuano as a songwriter and producer of some of the era’s biggest hits, working with the top artists of the day.  Music productions Dom has been involved with, have reached #1 in more than 20 countries, selling in excess of 20 million units worldwide, including over 3 million sales in the US alone.  Dom has worked with artists as diverse as Eiffel 65, Kool and the Gang, Toni Braxton, Busta Rhymes and many other, earning him the reputation as a Dance Pop Hitmaker of the 90s.

    Born in Italy, Dom studied classical music, mainly the double bass, at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Turin, Italy. He is also a piano player, composer and orchestral conductor, who has always pushed the boundaries, cultivating his experimental sound.

    During the late 90s/early 2000s, Dom achieved 3 times platinum, with over 3 million copies sold in the U.S. (certified RIAA) for “Move Your Body” by Eiffel 65.  The track also achieved 2x Platinum and 3x gold in Europe, with over 1,500,000 copies sold, eventually selling over 10 millions copies, worldwide. Dom also received gold discs with Da Blitz, Gabry Ponte, and Karmah.  The album, “Europop” by Eiffel 65 was released in the US by Universal, reaching #4 on the charts, and selling a total of 3,800,000 copies.

    In early 2006, Dom began considering his dream to compose music for film. He composed the TV theme for “Ninja Turtles”, and “You Can Call Me, Giò!”, an Italian version of “Ugly Betty” produced by Disney. Dom also scored the main theme of the anime “Pokemon,” for several countries, and later in 2006, the soundtrack for the short film “Calibro 70,” directed by Alessandro Rota.  In 2012, Dom moved to Los Angeles, scoring the music for the movie “The Sleeping Warrior”, and later in 2012, the soundtrack for “Solid State” starring Vivica A. Fox. In 2014, Dom composed the score for “Beautiful Destroyer” and later, the 2015 “Richard the Lionheart: Rebellion”, a film that tells the story and vicissitudes of the rise to the throne of the future King of England, Richard I “The Lionheart.” Directed by Stefano Milla, it was nominated at festivals, winning several for “Best Film” and for “Best Score”.  In 2016, after winning several international festivals, the movie “Richard the Lionheart: Rebellion” got distribution with STUDIOCANAL, one of the bigger independent film distributors worldwide, and distribution with SONY Pictures, which released the film in the U.S. and North America.

    In 2017, Dom scored the film “Kingdom of Gladiators, the Tournament,” starring the hero of the WWF and WWE wrestling walk of fame star, Solofa Fatu Jr., nicknamed Rikishi.  Dom’s composition “The Battle is in Your Hands” is featured In the new 2017-2018 on-line advertising for the sport brand, “New Era Caps.”  As always, Dom continues to produce new electronic tracks, such “Won’t You Be Mine” featuring Krystle Simmons, and “Guns And Roses” featuring IAGO, which is distributed worldwide on various platforms.  

    One thing’s for certain, Dom Capuano has hit his stride and found happiness on both sides of the Atlantic.  We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this incredible talent!
