Last week, metal shredder XANDER DEMOS, took time out to talk with Bert from THE METAL REVIEW. Xander talked about what it was like working with CJ SNARE, who mixed his debut album, Guitarcadia. They also discussed Xander’s next album, Dancing Thru Daggers, which Xander said will come out before NAMM 2014. Here’s an excerpt from their Skype interview:
METAL REVIEW: On Guitarcadia, I can definitely tell that your influences are all over the map. anyone in particular that has been a larger influence than others?
XANDER DEMOS: I’ve always been interested in and influenced by really melodic big band sounds with the aggressive pyrotechnic guitars added. For a while, that became commonplace. But I would have to say some of the bigger influences are going to be some of the really melodic shredders Like Shawn Lane, Jason Becker, Vinnie Moore and Tony MacAlpine
It’s kind of a fusion of 80s arena rock and shrapnel-era music works.
